When choosing who should be in the management development program you should look for great qualities that exist now. Do not fool yourself into thinking someone will step up and become better if given more responsibility. If they don’t exhibit good behavior as an insider or driver they should not be considered.
Ask yourself questions like these:
- Do they show up for work on time and as scheduled?
- Are they always in proper uniform?
- Do you trust them?
- Do they do things that need to be done on their own without having to always be told?
- Are they nice and friendly to customers AND their fellow team members?
- Do others often look to them for advice or training?
- Do others respect them?
- Do you see them as a leader?
